First and foremost: Will this snake eat frozen/ thawed. I'm assuming you're from the UK as you're calling it a Royal instead of the more common in the US title of Ball python. Next find out if it's an import. You want to stick with captive born and bred by a breeder in the country you live in. Imports often carry parasites, have feeding issues and health issues. You're always better off buying from a breeder who can give you parentage, and feed/ shed records. Any of my customers will have full feed/ shed and will have the names and registry numbers (if such a thing exists where you are) of the parents. I would avoid buying from a petshop as most co-habitate their animals and there's no way of knowing which animal is eating and which isn't. Find out when they last fed, and how often they feed. Also find out if there's ever been an issue with the animal. |

Well if you have bought a book on royal pythons that should answer the jist of your questions. about that snake personally, how old it is, what size of mouse/ rat it's currently eating. then look at the cage and see what the humid &temps are. maby the kind of bedding its using at the moment... also if it has any parasites, sicknesses or any other diseases. |

The best questions to ask with snakes are its feeding habitats. What sized mice or rats does it eat? How often does it eat? You should also ask to see a feeding, then you actually can see the habits. Also ask questions on behavior. Before you go research on what a healthy snake looks like, so you know you get a healthy snake. |
