Tips on grooming my pet rabbit?

Question: Tips on grooming my pet rabbit?

(Posted by: Alessandro on 2010-02-19 21:28:25)

I just got a pet rabbit and would like to know the best ways to groom it. A lot of fur comes out and it flies everywhere. Is there a few tips on how and where to do this so i don't dirty everywhere and make my backyard full of fur? Any tips to make the job as clean as reasonably possible?

Use a comb and then vacuum up the fur when you are done

You could wet your hand and pet him. That way you will collect the fur on your hand and just roll it off. I just give my bunnies baths in luck warm water and use bunny shampoo. Then rap them up in towels like a burrito and sit in the sun and dry them. Or if its cold I blow dry them on a lower warm setting. Then I brush them and cut their nail, check their ears and give them a treat for being so good. Good luck!

You shouldn't give your rabbit a bath unless in extreme conditions because rabbits can get chilled. Depending on what breed your rabbit is, there are different ways to groom it. Some people use a wire brush. For me, I find that wetting my hands then pet the rabbit removes any stray hair. You can do this everyday, if needed. If you have an angora rabbit, you will need to shear it because if you let the wool get too long, it can cause mats in the fur. You can use stainless steel scissors to shear rabbits, I have used scissors on my angoras with great success.
