Puppy and adult male dogs marking territory?

Question: Puppy and adult male dogs marking territory?

(Posted by: TabbySauresRex on 2010-03-09 15:47:13)

I have a 6yr old Irish setter (male), And I am soon to be purchasing a chihuahua or pomeranian puppy. Someone told me i should adopt a female because then it would stop the male from marking territory, but my 6yr old Irish setter is no neutered, so we would be getting the female spayed asap. But then i read that males are much friendly and playful, and i was wondering if i got a male puppy and if my Irish setter would start marking their territory or if my 6yr old will be fine with it?

In my experience male dogs, neutered or not, will mark their territory. i have had both male and female dogs and see no difference in how friendly or playful they are

Dogs are territorial animals. That is a fact, and when they want to say "this is my spot, " they tell other people and animals by marking it using an assortment of ways. Check this link for more info. lnk.nu/ dogtime.com/ zmz.html
