Got a male puppy, already have a 2 year old male dog. Did I make a mistake getting a second male?
Have a 20 month old neutered male springer spaniel, very good nature. Adopted a 7 wk old male lab shepard mix. Can two male dogs live together and get along well?

Does mum want a puppy or not?
I have asked and she said she wants one too, but now she says she will think about it because she doesn't want to get one while I'm in exams, which is fair enough. I agreed and said it would probably be better to get one in the holidays but now I don't know whether it will happen at all? How can I prove I'm responsible? I clean my room, make my bed, have been a straight A student for 2 years, clear the table every night, do some ironing , vacuuming and mopping, and we have had dogs before. She is also concerned about what it will do during the day while we're at work school this will be 2 3 times a week for about 9 hrs but I have told her that with crate training, help from neighbours for exercise and food etc during the day and plenty of attention and exercise when we're home, it will be easier to leave alone. What other reasons could she have for not getting a puppy? thank for your help

Questions about my new puppy?
Through a strange turn of events, I've ended up with a puppy. I was spending time with my stepdad since I live three hours away from home now. We went to this place where this old guy had some auto parts for sale. He has two dogs, a male and female German shepherd. The male is a few years older and unrelated to the female but his good housepet female did the inevitable with his guard shepherd when she came into heat. This guy is one of those old crotchety guys who doesn't want to take care of stuff if he doesn't have to. He had a puppy, I would guess between ten and twelve weeks old, that was in deplorable conditions, and being the softy I am, I wanted to get the little guy out of there. So I asked how much he'd sell it for. He told me if I could catch it, I could have it. He didn't even know if it was a male or female. It was tricky but I did manage to catch the pup. It's a male. He hasn't been well socialized but in the two days I've had him, we're quickly making progress. He's been a breeze to potty train and he's showing typical gsd intelligence. I've spend a lot of time with my aunt and uncle's show gsd's and their pups, but I have a few questions about mine. His ears are still floppy...my aunt's pups have all had their ears erect at 10 weeks or earlier. Is that normal? He has a small splash of white on his chest and I tiny bit of white at the tips of his toes on one of his feet. Does that mean he might not be full blooded? And judging by his pics, could you possibly tell me how close I am in his age estimate? If he isn't full blooded, I don't care. I'm already committed for the rest of his life. Gsd's are my favorite breed but even if he's only half, that's still enough for me. Here're some pics of him s905.photobucket.com albums ac251 Randi1018 My %20puppy ?action view& current Photo943.jpgs905.photobucket.com albums ac251 Randi1018 My %20puppy ?action view& current 101 0463.jpgs905.photobucket.com albums ac251 Randi1018 My %20puppy ?action view& current 101 0462.jpgs905.photobucket.com albums ac251 Randi1018 My %20puppy ?action view& current 101 0461.jpgI also took the string away from him and replaced it with his chew bone lol

Possible concussion for puppy chihuahua?
i'm dogsitting for a 2 month old chihuahua. i was holding him and he was wiggling, so i went to put him in his cage, and he jumped out, hit the side of the cage and then landed on his side on the floor. for a whole minute he held his back and front legs straight and yelped 3 times. then he finally started moving a little, and threw up and then just wanted to sleep. i wouldn't let him sleep, because i wanted to know if he was ok. so i put him on his feet, and he could walk ok. besides taking him to the emergency pet clinic because it's late at night .. do you think he'll be ok? i'm sooooo worried...

How can I socialize my 16 week old puppy?
I am rescuing a Papillon English Working Cocker Spaniel mix who is 16 weeks old. I met her just the other day, and she had her tail between her legs the whole time, and was scared to come up to me. The strangest part is that she loves to be held. Once you have her in your arms, she melts like butter and is not scared anymore. I hear that her " critical socializing time" from 6 12 weeks is over, and that she will always be nervous in new situations. I really hope for her to play like other dogs and be confident when meeting new people. Does she still have that chance, or is it too late? How should I go about socializing her from this point and forward?I also would like to know more about whether I should crate train her, use a clicker to train her, and other tips about raising a puppy of this age.Thank you thank you to anyone who responds.

I have an aggressive puppy. Help me:[?
I have a 6 month old puppy that is being aggressive. He was attacked by a much older dog that has never bit anything before. All because this pup is territorial. Mostly around his food or even if he finds a scrap of trash which i believe rooted from where he came from. The lady would put a plate of wet food on the ground and all of these puppies pretty much had to fend for themselves and do whatever they could to get food. Needless to say, i took two puppies hoping to get as many out of her hands ASAP. His behavior is wearing off on the other dogs and his sister just snarled at my dads dachshund today. She is already 60 pounds and getting much bigger so I can not have this from either of the puppies nor from any of my other dogs. I need some tips on how to help his food aggression. This can not get worse or serious injuries or death could happen and thats not something i will have. Please give me any advice that can help while they can still learn right from wrong Oh he was neutered at 3.5 months and all of the other dogs are spayed or neutered as well. For some reason he still seems to really want to be alpha dog. and this behavior has started within the last month for the most part. He would snarl if dogs got close to his food but now he seems to just down right try to hurt them. Its a scary sight. Positive things only please

German Shepherd puppy - 9 weeks. help?
Ok, I'll state this now though i have absolutely no experiance with caring for a dog, i do want to learn, and the questions that i ask here are for clarification. I've searched for answers on the web and i just want to make a final decision after seeing the answers put by people WITH EXPERIANCE. 1. I've read that Greenies arent meant for puppies. Though the label on the box says that your dog must be at least 6 months of age, waht do you guys suggest? Also, would u allow your dog to eat greenies? I read that there was an " incident" with undigestible greenies and would like to know your opinions about this product. I do plan on brushing my puppy's teeth though. How often should i brush his teeth? Everyday or 1 2 days?2. I bought the furminator, and i know it removes the undercoat i think . But gsd puppies dont grow their undercoat until what age? 6 months i believe not entirely sure . At what age would you suggest using the furminator and how often? Besides the furminator, i own a regular brush rake that i plan on using every day to brush my gsd with.3. For now, that's all the questions i can think of but please give me your opinions. Please respect my wishes i do not want rude or unhelpful comments. This is my first dog and i am very unexperianced, but what makes me different from some other owners is that i am WILLING to learn. So please help me.

How does one go about convincing their stubborn mother to get a puppy?
My entire life I've wanted a dog. I'm pretty dang serious, too. I've ways wanted one.My sister, my brother, my mother, and I live in a two story apartment. About the size of a bachelor or bachelorette pad, the place has a pretty nice living room, open kitchen, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms, with a small backyard. We have two dogs, one is my older brothers, and the other is my AHEM younger sisters. We have three cats, too. My mother says she doesn't want another pet because of the size of the house the last place we lived in was so small, we literally ran into each other walking to and fro. Another reason is because my house reeks of dog pee. The dogs only pee in the house when we aren't home, or we refuse to let them out i don't let them out, seeing as i do not own either dog. My mother generally cleans up after them, which i find retarded. You're dog, clean up after it. My sister is 8, while i am 13. How unfair is that? I have a cat. They don't do much a platypus is more interesting. Anyway she's 8, has a dog, and i DONT? i promised to train the dogs again so they stop peeing in the house, have also promised i'd pay for the dog... A whole list of about twelve promises. I even said she didn't have to get me the laptop, the reward for good grades. It's what i want for my birthday nothing else. We've lived here for several years in this apartment, and i HATE it. We're never going to leave... If we ever do leave, i might have a slight chance at getting a dog.Considering i am 13, i have come up with a slow money making process doing chores for money, including cooking the costumer, food delivery and massages. cooking and delivery are not separate . This isn't fair. I am highly responsible. I have had two hamsters which died because of old age and a disease we later found out they received at the store , a bird which my father hated so he sold them to some crazy lady about thirty fish.. i also have excellent grades, do my chores with minimal complaining ... i also have alot going on in my life, and i've been told dogs are good therapy. So not only will i lose wait, get loving therapy, a new friend, i'll get something i've wanted forever.... Please help Also, please do not tell me i am too young. My sister is 8 and has had Bandit since she was like, four. My brother got his dog at about my age, too. And, again, highly responsible.I have cleaned up after the dogs and let them out several times but a dog is a responsibility the owners should take care of...about the cat, i freaking LOVE emma, she's seriously the cutest cat i have ever seen. I'm not dissatisfied or saying i hate her or anything, i love Emma with all my heart, and considering the dog will be small and she's super friendly, she could have a friend too. Sometimes i wonder if my mom is making excuses because she hates me, i mean, Kelsi had Bandit since forever, they're basically twins, she never cares for him, and neither does my 18year old brother with his dog. I'm not trying to sound spoiled when i say i wont help, but they really need to care for them themselves, it's theirs and not my moms or mine. It's not fair to me to have to take care of them, nor my mom. She probably doesn't trust me because of them, but whatever, i'm an entirely different person....

Puppy and adult male dogs marking territory?
I have a 6yr old Irish setter male , And I am soon to be purchasing a chihuahua or pomeranian puppy. Someone told me i should adopt a female because then it would stop the male from marking territory, but my 6yr old Irish setter is no neutered, so we would be getting the female spayed asap. But then i read that males are much friendly and playful, and i was wondering if i got a male puppy and if my Irish setter would start marking their territory or if my 6yr old will be fine with it?
