well i want 2 pet mice and need to learn more about them before i ask for one or even get one so what do i need to get and know about mice before i get one???

Do female mice show dominance?
I just got 2 mice today for my daughter. I looked and so did the pet store assistant and we chose 2 that looked to be female. I was keeping an eye on them and seeing if I could get a better look and one of the mice tried humping the other mouse. I am a bit nervous since I don't want babies but I also don't want to take any mice back if they are both the same gender. Do female mice hump each other to prove dominance or do I have a male and a female?

Is it safe to have 2 mice in the same cage as 1 rat?
I had 1 female rat in the same cage as 2 mice, 1 male, and 1 female. They were there together for a week, but everyone told me I was crazy and that my rat would eat both mice. I've separated them, but they look despondent. She was 1 year old, they were 1 month, and she acted like a mother to them. It was so cute, they were sleeping on her 1 at either side during the week, certainly not trying to eat them. What should I do here?

My mom found two NEWBORN mice? Help?!?
My mom sells books and she had some in our shed. She felt something soft in one of the books, and it was a mouse She flipped out and the mouse jumped out of the book with like a bunch of babies attached to her they were drinking her milk and while the mom was running she left behind 2. My mom was just gonna leave them there, until I begged and begged to keep them. She finally said yes, and it has been about 4 hours and they are still alive. I just need to know what I can do to keep them alive, we fed them with an eye dropper filled with milk water. Now they are sleeping, I know they aren't dead, they are breathing. So any tips? Thanks, and they are warm.

What if mice don't appear to like each other?
I just got 2 mice yesterday and they are in an aquarium with the basics, ie food dish, water bottle, wheel, and a small mouse igloo. They appeared to do their own thing occasionally coming into contact with one another but now I noticed that one of the mice doesn't go into the igloo with the other. It's plenty big enough for them both but only 1 uses it. Do they not like each other or are female mice usually this way? I've seen the groups of mice in the pet stores sleeping in a heap in a corner and thought that they would want to huddle. If I need to I can go out today and buy a second igloo for the other mouse but I'd want her to use it. Sort of a silly question but we got 2 mice so that they wouldn't be lonely and I want to be sure of that.I just looked in on them and they were both in the igloo cuddled up and sleeping Thanks to everyone who answered, I guess I was just overly worried. I know that they aren't from the same littere because they look completely different but it appears that they are fine with one another.

Can pet mice have yogies that are meant for guinea pigs?

I really want to get a mouse or two. i might have a few problems though, help me out?1... i have cats. so obviously i wouldnt use a cage where my cats could stick their paws in.2... my parents dont want me having one bc of our cats... so i would have to be secretive.3... im 13... where am i going to be able to get a mouse. could i get one off the streets...?as for the secretive part i think im cool. i have a huge chest in my rrom that i could put the tank i would use a small fish tank. in. i would throw in some light and when my parents arent home i would take the tank out and play with it and feed it in the morning, when i get home from school, and before bed. i know all about that kinda stuff.ummmm pretty much my only issue. where do i buy the mouse? could i go to petsmart and buy one of those cheap mice that are like 2 bucks? could i get one thats in my backyard? where should i go? ? ?

Can pet Rats and Mice live together?
My local Animal Shelter has 2 female rats, and about 10 mice for adoption. My birthday is in less than 2 weeks, and I'd like to get these guys. I'm just not sure if I can have Rats living in the same cage with Mice? Will they hurt or eat the Mice? Also, what is the best food for Mice Rats?Thank you That makes sense, I SO appreciate your help I have had mice when I was a kid, but never rats. It is REQUIRED that the mice go in same sex pairs to prevent breeding. That's how they ended up in the shelter, someone bought male female and they have 15 babies I will adopt a few female mice Thank you so much < 3
