Female german shephard dog killing kittens?
My 8 month old german shephard killed our newborn kittens tonight. I don't understand what has led her to this, but it is her second offence. OK, the story first. I have read many posts, but none seem to pertain to our situation. Angel the dog grew up with lil bit and griff, our two cats, we got lil bit and angel about the same time, griff is a little bit older. Angel does not have a problem with either of them. Angel is not our only dog, we have 2 others, all german shephards. All of the dogs and cats will play in the yard together, wrestling, running around, acting fool most of the time. 1st offence with angel, about 2 months ago got word from my cousin that lives a little up the road, that angel had been up there and killed their kitten. She brought it home and we sat her down and told her no, she got a couple of swats on the behind and an hour or so in the kennel. Well, yesterday lil bit had a litter of kittens 5 . She had them out in the shop in a nice spot away from all the dogs. This afternoon as lil bit decides to stretch her legs and come join us in the front yard. When she returns to the bed we hear cries from angel as she is apparantly taking a beating from the cats. We find that all of the kittens are dead. Now, I punished angel and put her in the kennel...for the night. But I need to think of a way to keep her from doing this again. My grandmother, who lives up right past the cousins, has alot of cats that she feeds out in her barn, keeps the mice down she says, we live in the country I would hate to get a call informing me that angel has been up there killing her cats as well. Nothing so far has been said, but at this point I would think it is possible. I need advice, and putting the dog down is not an option. I need good training or dicipline. Needless to say, I am going to have lil bit fixed.OK, you obviously did not read the post. I am not asking for smart a answers or someone to chew me out, I am asking for advice. I do not have..say...a " yard" I live in the country on approx. 150 acres with 3 sets of cousins, my brother, father, grandmother and an uncle. We all have dogs, they all run together, go from house to house for attention, food and fun. We all have cats, the dogs don't bother any of them, they all run and play together. It is just my dog, with the frigging kittens. If the cat is older, or obviously grew up with them like she did with lil bit, they are good. It has been 2 months since the first incident, I didn't think she was going to do it again, honestly, but apparently I was wrong. Now I am reaching out for sound advise not sarcasm.Yes, angel is spayed.
Is it ok to separate two kittens from each other?
So what happened is that I found a kitten and my friend found a kitten two weeks later. I've been watching her kitten until she moves somewhere that allows pets. Well, after three months together, the kittens have become best buddies. If my friend takes " her" kitten when she moves soon, will this be cruel? We both want what's best for the kittens, but she was kind of looking forward to getting hers back but she was moving anyway, not just for the kitten . She comes to visit the kitten all the time, so it knows her pretty well. Oh, and the kittens are about 5 months old now, we think.
Does anyone know why 4 week old kittens would just stop eating?
I have a cat that had a litter of kittens. They are a little over 4 weeks old born august 1st .One of them got really sick and would eat anything. I tried to feed it..it was just so weak it wouldnt eat I tried to get it to suck the mother cat, and I tried to feed it some soft cat food..like the gravy in it. But it wouldnt. It finally got so weak today and it died. Now one of the other ones are getting pretty bad. I really just dont know what to do for them, and why they quit eating. And ideas? Also they have really bad diarrhea. I cant figure out why.. Does this have something to do with the mother cats milk?

What type of litter would be sufficient for my kittens?
I need to know a type of litter to use that is healthy for my kittens, and that will keep the smell away and clump they're wastes. I've heard ground corn is good, and cheap. Any ideas? Details, please.I never said I wanted the cheapest stuff, I'm just not looking for the most expensive stuff, so cheaper is fine than paying an arm and a leg just so my cat can go to the bathroom.

At the moment I do not have any flea drops so will bathing the kittens with dish soap help?
Why Is My Kitten So Misbehaved?
ok this is a long story so bare with me k, we have 2 male cats 1 at a year old and the other is about 3 months. this is about the kitten. when we were given him he was 6 weeks we were told 10 then found out different from vet , he had a lot of medical problems, he wouldn't eat cat food he had been weaned it's just the moron who gave him to us never fed him any proper food and didn't know how to clean himself and it was our older male who taught him all this. however he very very very badly behaved, just so u know, because of similar eating and behaviour problems 2 further kittens from the litter have been returned and seen as he was giving them away for free it says a lot. ok, we're are going insane, he's kept in a different room from our adult, we introduced them properly and they accepted each other very quickly, they got along great there was no fighting or snarling, they spent all day cuddling then all of sudden the kitten pounced at the adult and everytime he sees him attacks hell out of him. he eats everything in sight, he pushes our adult out the way and starts eating his food, he lauches himself on to our dining table and tries to get into our dinner, he scratches hell out of our doors and miaows constantly, he has loads of toys and we spend most of the day playing with him but as soon as we leave the room he goes insane scratching the door and trying to dig under it. he attacks us and our older cat really quite viciously, we've tried squirting him with a water bottle and still maintain that even tho it isn't working, he's a longhaired cat so by the time the water actually affects him he's gotten away with it long enough, we've tried the water bottle, tried tapping his nose and bum not hard , we praise every good thing he does and give him treats is he does but nothing is working he's getting out of control. we keep thinking what we've done wrong but we know it's nothing we have as our adult is so well behaved we cant fault anything he's ever done because we trained him quite quickly. btw our adult is neutered the kitten isn't he hasn't got any yet which we're kind of wondering about too please help we're going crazy xi dont know what u mean by barbed, neither cat has a breed vet and they got along great to begin with klay we cannot and will not let our cats out it is not an option we live in a very bad city where animals are known to be hurt by idiots. but thank u for all the other advice we'll certainly do that
Can someone tell me what could have possibly happened to this kitten?? creepy?
so there are 4 stray kittens in the neighborhood and the other day I went into my garage and found one dead I told my boyfriend to pick it up and bury it while i went to school. he texted me and let me know that it was still alive, barely breathing and foaming out the mouth. So I told him to just put it outside in the shade and let it die in peace. while about 12 hours later after I came home from school I seen that he had put the cat in a little box it looked dead, there were flies all over it and its eyes were glazed over so I went over to the box to take it to bury it and when touched the box the cat jumped up shook its head then gave me a crazy look and ran off. The next day I see that same cat running around like its fine CREEPY what could have happened to that cat that would leave it about dead for over 12 hours and then instantaniously back to normal????hmm now that you mention it I guess it could have been antifreeze I keep mine in the garage and maybe it went up and licked the bottle? would that little bit of resudue that might be on the bottle enough to make it sick like that??
A Kitten keeps visiting our house!?
Okay ever since 3 weeks, this kitten has been visiting us. It's really cute and stuff. He comes everyday I never fed him til yesterday.. Again, he came today when I came back from school. I NEVER owned an animal and don't know anything. I heard kittens can be born with worms? Is it okay for me to play with it? I don't wanna keep the kitten cause my parents won't let me, just playing is allowed. What can I feed him from my house? He is a KITTEN BTW. I don't have a animal store near me to buy food for him.. Any scratch from home? I heard milk isn't okay so I aint gonna do that..Thanks
What might be wrong with my kitten?
I took in an abandoned kitten at 6 weeks old because he was too thin and fighting off a really goopy eye infection. I got the infection treated at the vet, and after it had cleared up he got his first distemper shot. A few days after his distemper shot, he began squinting one of his eyes, and I had to take him back to the vet to get eye drops to treat yet another infection.I've been using the eye drops religiously, and his eyes are much better, but they still have a slight bit of discharge, which I clean with eye wipes every morning and night before adding eye drops. He eats like a pig and doesn't have diarrhea, but whenever I'm home all he wants to do is be with me. As far as I know he ignores his toys and isn't very active, even now at 10 weeks old. He also doesn't seem like he's grown at all over the last month, and he's kind of bony even though he eats so much. He was wormed and everything, but the vet said not to worry about it because lots of kittens have eye problems. Should I be concerned about the eye infections combined with his small size and lack of activity?
