I currently live in Mandeville, Louisiana and am moving to Chapaign, Ilinois. We have two kittens about 9 weeks old that will be taking the car ride with us. What is the best way to transport them on this long ride? Has anyone ever done this before, if so how did you handle the restroom issue? Suggestions? thanks
Is this normal behaviour for 2 seven month old male kittens?
I have just spent 2 weeks at my friends house. We both have seven month old male kittens. We expected them to fight, which they did all day every day, because my kitten was the stranger. But when it came to bedtime they were happy to sleep on the same chair next to eah other, and this was from the very first night.Sharon WMy cat is pure black and the other is ginger & white.
Anyone know about kittens?
I have a kitten that is two months old.Her name is fluffy. she randomly responses to her name and she bites a lot and scratches playfully, i think lol . i know cats are the types to have habits and i don't know if she is just in the stage of her life where she is only playing because all the energy bulit up inside of her or if she will be a biter when she is older. how can i let her know biting is not allowed.
Cutting kittens claws?
Hi guys, I was just wondering if there was a way to get my kitten 4 months comfortable with me retracting his claws. At the moment Ive been cutting them down when hes curled up on my lap, and everytime i go for his claws he stirs and bites my hand nothing serious and retracts his other sets of claws and goes for my hand. Ive thought about maybe making the experience more comfortable for him by scratching him behind the ears, etc, but Im having second thoughts about this as he might think im rewarding him for attacking my hand...
I don't think my kittens are growing as they should. ?
i290.photobucket.com albums ll254 LizzieLiz92 del001.jpgThis is one of my kittens you see in that picture, Habika. My other kitten, Charlie is about 2 pounds bigger than she is. Both of them are close to 8 9 months old they're brother and sister The neighbors cat who is about 1 month older than them looks just about full grown. Even last month, the neighbors kitten topped as largest by a lot. Probably 2 3lbs bigger than Charlie. I'm not sure why they are so little. i290.photobucket.com albums ll254 LizzieLiz92 del015.jpgi290.photobucket.com albums ll254 LizzieLiz92 del023.jpgi290.photobucket.com albums ll254 LizzieLiz92 del044.jpgi290.photobucket.com albums ll254 LizzieLiz92 del019.jpgThese are other pictures of them. Do they look normal size for 8 9 month old kittens? The neighbors other kitten was so much smaller than theirs and the same age as Smokey, the first one I mentioned of theirs and was smokey's sister.

I thought of bringing my 2 lil kittens together with us, in 8 hours drive journey. any tips?

Should I take the kittens and nurse them or should I just leave them with their mother?
I have a cat who lives in my neighborhood. I've rescued animals my whole life and after she showed up at my house I've been putting out food for her everyday. She's been pregnant for a few months and finally gave birth about 2 days ago or so. I have no idea where in the neighborhood the kittens were born but I think I have an idea. If I find them, should I take them into my house and nurse them until they're ready to go to a shelter or will it be detrimental to their health and development if I do that. The main reason that I want to do this is because I don't want the kittens to be killed by possums and other cats. Another cat in the neighborhood had kittens and only 1 survived. Please give me advise I can't bring in the mom cat because she would want to move around. The kittens I can keep in a small area together. The mother would want to move around and I wouldn't want to cage her in.
Kittens playing or fighting?
I have 2 male pets a male boxer, Tucker, who just turned 1 in Dec. and a 6 month old kitten, Niko, we have had since since July. It didn't take long at all for my dog and kitten to get along. Niko and Tucker play with each other all day. My kitten is not aggressive at all he never hisses at Tucker or anything. I thought that getting another kitten to play with them would be great since they have so much fun together. Well, so far its not working out. I understand that you have to give kittens time to adjust to one another but this is the situation My husband and I were surfing the internet and found an ad for a young 5 month kitten who needed a new home. We figured it would be a good idea to keep it around Niko's age. So we contacted the women we'll say her name is Debra so it's not confusing later on with the kitten and decided to go see her. Debra had told us that the reason she is giving the kitten a new home is because she had to separate her two cats from the kitten. Apparently her cats are very friendly but were not accepting of the younger one. We also found out that this kitten originally came from a home with a houseful of other cats. 14 or so. Debra said that the women with all the cats was planning on or already did have the kitten outside. Debra thought the kitten was too young to be kept outside and wanted to give her a safer home. She didn't seem to be interested in us while we were there. She just kind of laid down the whole time on her side and when she did get up it wasn't towards us. I noticed she was chubby but didn't think anything of it. Well, I liked her and thought she was cute she reminded me of a cat I had when I was younger. Debra said if it doesn't work out and our kitten doesn't accept her to call her back and she would take her back. I figured we'd be fine since Niko is so outgoing and wouldn't hurt anyone. So on the drive home, she just laid down and didn't meow or cry at all. When we got inside we put her and her litter box in a large bedroom. We named her Onyx because she's all black. We left Onyx in there for a little bit but my was already curious. We allowed him in the bedroom to smell her and she growled and hissed at first. We figured that would be normal. He immediately backed off. So we left them together for a few hours later on that day monitoring them. The next day they finally broke the ice by playing behind the curtains. But I don't know if Onyx doesn't like playing for a long time with Niko but she claws at him and hisses. Even when I go in there and try to pick her up she kinda growls. I don't like that I can't pick her up without her getting mad. I also noticed that she doesn't walk around a lot. She always seems to be laying down again on her side . I even pet her when she was near the food dish and she plopped right down on top of the food dish. So its been a few days and we open the door for them to roam hoping that being in a large area they won't fight. Niko just plays with her like if she hisses he taps her on the head without claws. She just seems to hate the fact the he wants to play. Anyways, we were wrong about giving more space. Niko just follows her around and tries to tackle her. It seems like they are playing at first but then it seems like Onyx gets really rough with him uses claws but the tail wags a few times. We let our dog out and as large as he is, all the sounds that come out of Onyx growling and hissing , Tucker won't even go near her. As of right now, I don't know what to do. I had separate the two kittens. I went in to check up on Onyx and rubbed my hand across the ground to play with her but she doesn't even acknowledge me. So recap she came from a houseful of cats may have been an outdoor kitten chubby possibly pregnant?? she doesn't allow me to pick her up or pet her really 5 months old and she lays down all the time no active at all she is using her litter box. i have checked and there is urine and poop in it. she did 1 time follow Niko to play but then turned around and growled and hissed. ignores me if i try playing with herI guess I just always thought all kittens were playful and active. I don't know if she's like this because of the life she's had or what. But then I don't know if its safe to keep her here with Niko and Tucker. All they want to do it play. Tucker already knows to stay away from her. I'm sorry this is so long. I just didn't want to leave any details out. I wanted everything to be out in case there may be an explanation. Thank you.
Expert help needed! 7 month old Kitten unwell?
Hi. I would really appreciate an expert's opinion.First of all, I have spoken to a vet nurse and a vet this morning and I will make an appointment if my cat doesn't get better very shortly.Bit of background we rescued 2 female kittens at 6 and 8 weeks old, who had cat flu, and nursed them back to health. They were both spayed just before Christmas. They got the all clear on 27th Dec and so are now going outside for brief intervals when they feel like it which isn't much because it's freezing cold outside . They have not yet ventured further than next door's garden.Ok. The older one did not eat her breakfast yesterday Monday . When we came home, we found what looked to be a small pool of yellow liquid on the floor definitely not urine, so I am guessing she had been sick. We managed to get her to eat a couple of biscuits last night but that's all.I am not TOO worried just yet because she is otherwise acting completely normally. I know cats are good at disguising it when they're ill which is why I have rung the vet. Yes the other cat is absolutely fine and eating like a pig.One thing the vet would not help me with was this on Sunday I put new flea collars on them. The poorly cat ran off with the cut off part in her mouth and it took me a second to retrieve it. Could this upset her tummy? If so, is it very dangerous?I am reluctant to go to the vet immediately because she is quite a nervous cat and gets stressed very easily they've been to the vets 6 times in 6 months bless them . The vet has advised I try to feed her white meat or white fish. I have some white fish so that won't be a problem.I was just hoping there might be an expert on here who could give any reassurance or further advice?? Again, the cat will be going to the vet this week if she doesn't get better on her own. Even if it means upsetting her even more Thanks all. Thanks for the reply. The silly thing is, we have been using Stronghold for fleas worms from the vets, and will be using Frontline when they're next due.We bought the flea collars they also had fleas as babies , but they weren't quite 12 weeks old so we couldn't use them. I only put them on just now because they are now going outside, there are lots of cats where we live and I didn't want anyone to think they were strays. My mum good old mum is going to my house at lunchtime to take the collars off.If it IS the collar that's upset her, does anyone have any idea how quickly she will start to get better? I'm so worried about my baby Hi Friends of Ferals. They are farm cats originally and have been crying to go outside for a long time, so we let them out when they ask to go.Hi chigwell shell. They ARE microchipped. We only got collars so they don't look like strays. The collar will be taken off any second, hopefully she will start to get better very soon. I feel SO stupid for putting flea collars on them now my mum's used them for years with no problem. I really hope it is just the flea collar that's upset her, she has been through enough. Thanks all for your replies.
Why does my kitten do this when she drinks milk?
Hi. Ive gust recently got a new kitten, shes a British Shorthair and shes 6 months old. When i give her a drink of milk, she will drink it and then after she will scrape the floor. You know when a cat uses a litter tray, the action they do to cover it up, that's the same action she does. There is nothing on the floor, but she scrapes her paws like shes in the litter tray. Just wondering if any cat expert knows why she does this? Is it something kittens do when they drank from their mothers? Thanks for answering XxHi Lula, thanks for your answer, but by milk i actually mean 'cat milk whiskas ' im not giving her normal milk, it is for cats xSHE IS BEING FED CAT MILK BY THE WAY, I KNOW THE THING ABOUT COWS MILK SORRY, SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLEARER X
I Really want a kitten. I'm having a hard time convincing my parents. Any Advice?
Hello My name's Abbie, and i'm 14.I've always been a major animal lover.I have a dog, that I love and take care of. I share the work of my dog with my other family members. Since she is a family dog.I want a kitten very much, mostly because i've had experience with kittens. My dad gave in once to taking home a kitten. But then she was adopted.I also took care of stray kittens for a week. I'd love to be involved with the shelter around here. But sadly i'm not old enough. My dog loves other animals, and does well with cats. My parents are unsure about a kitten. We would adopt from the shelter, being as it would save a life. My parents seem to always make up excuses. They know I have the money and the time. So, I cant volunteer... I know I cant challenge what my parent's final decision is... so im hoping you guys might have some advice. Thanks Abbie.
