I'm planning on buying a pair of male gerbils soon and I would like to know which kind of cage would be better. I've heard that aquarium tanks around 10 gallons are popular, but I would also like to know about regular wire cages that they sell at the pet store. If anyone could also give me a list of supplies that I will need for the two and the average cost, I would be really grateful.

I am having a gerbil issue?
I have two gerbils, Pinkie and Brain. Recently Pinkie chewed out of the cage so I got a glass tank for them this happened about a week ago . For some reason It almost seems as if they are becoming nocturnal, and when ever I go near the cage they freak out and they don't like it when I hold them. As a side note, Pinkie has this red, almost scabby looking thing right by her nose. I'm not sure if she had a nose bleed of some sort, but I don't know why..Help?

Pregnant gerbil queries?
hi everyone, we got a couple of gerbils from the pet store, and was told that they were male, but when we got home, we noticed that they are actually female, and 1 escaped whilst i was setting up their cage and ended up with 1 of our male gerbils that was having their daily run. we wasn't too worried about them meeting up at the time, as we thought they were all male, and my partner was watching them in case of any problems. we were told by the vets that gerbils look like they are mating with others of the same sex but are actually marking them as being theirs, so assumed this was what was happening and took it as a good sign, yet since then, the female has started acting differently. she is drinking a lot of water, storing food but not eating that much, and seems to be constantly building a nest. she has also gained quite a lot of weight, and is not as active as usual. is there anything i should could do to make the pregnancy any easier for her, as she is due any day now. she is very close to me still, and sits on my hands. i've felt 3 little bumps so far.

My gerbil lost a tooth and the other one is loose,what should I feed it?
some people were suggesting oatmeal, but is it cooked oat meal? I put a piece of bread in there but should i give him anything else to eat? Please tell me some foods he can eat.also when i mean food he can eat I mean human food that is safe for gerbils to eat

Gerbils digging at corners of plastic cage, how to make them stop?
I just bought two male gerbils, and they are digging excessively and almost non stop at the corners and bottom of my clear plastic cage. Why is my gerbil so small?
About 10 months ago my sisters gerbil ran away. I love Sammy but thank God mine didn't So anyway, we got a new gerbil. My Mom said not to get a female gerbil but Me, my Dad, and my sister did anyway. Hammy and Tammy new gerbil had babies. Lets just say 4. a horrible thing happened to the others We gave the 3 girl gerbils and Tammy back to the pet store.However, we kept the boy Bammy Anyway, Bammy is really small and he's almost a year old.He's really healthy too. I can't feel his bones at all. I'd guess you'd say he's chubby but small.I think he might the size of a gerbil half his age.He's healthy but I'd like to know if anybody has any ideas as to why he's so small.Thanks for reading answering I know it might be long Oh, and the parents are normal sized

Is it ok to reintroduce a male gerbil back with his pregnant mate.?
I have a breeding pair of gerbils that are about 8 months old and are expecting there first litter in the next 2 or 3 days. The male however got diarrhea about 2 weeks ago and i had to take him out of the cage to be on the safe side, in case the female could it to and lost the litter. He is fine now and has got the all clear. I am concerned however about putting him back in with the female. I have put him in with the female a few times over the past few days and they still seem to recognize each other and are fine together, they will even still sleep together.I am not shure however about when she gives birth to his pups, will he accept them or will he kill them.Has anyone ever had this problem and has anyone ever try ed putting a male in with a pregnant female.
