Why do my 2 female gerbils lick each others bum?

Can I give my gerbils beer once in a while?

Degu question???? Or If you have gerbils??
My degu Kizzy was originaly a school pet, but she was high skl pet where they used to poke her, scare her,yell at her really loud, poke horrible things in her cage, what shouldn't of been in there. she used to live in a science lab but then my teacher moved away so i took kizzy home with me, she is super friendly and sweet, but she doesn't play with toys, she never had any in the skl that she lived in and wen i gave her some, the skl took them back out, she lives alone cos her sister died whe the skl seperated them.how do i get her to be more active and play with toys, i let her out to play with me on the bedroom floor for an hour everyday

Are my baby gerbils okay?
Okay so my gerbil had 3 babies and they are around 2 and a half weeks old and all of them make a small soft clicking noise when I first pick them up.. Othewise they are healthy happy active developing right on track, eating when ever food is offered. There is no goop around there nose or eyes. Is everything alright?

My gerbils butt is bleeding?
i got 3 female gerbils about 3 weeks ago. They all appear to be asking normal. except the one with blood, it is cleaning itself down there and thats all it does. what is this?? should i take it to the vet?now her fur is beginning to clump

Can gerbils drink cold water?
On eHow it said gerbils can get wet tail if they drink cold water. If they can't how will I give him water? Can I use tap water?

Is there any replacement for chinchilla sand to bathe my gerbils?
I ran out last month, and my gerbils are getting PRETTY greasy. Is there a household material I can use to replace the sand? Like starch, flour, something along those lines? Money is tight, and I'm only thirteen, so I can't pay for more sand at the moment. If there isn't a safe material, I'll just wait until we can afford more sand.Actually, you can use either. It's basically the same stuff, but my local pet shop only has chinchilla dust. I don't think I want to risk giving my gerbils a RI from the wet cloth. Thanks anyways

My new gerbil seems SUPER timid! What taming method will work best?
I've had many gerbils in the past, but she is by far the most timid. By the way, we're getting her cagemate soon from my friend who needs to get rid of one of her gerbils. Lola, My gerbil is from petsmart. It seems like no one took the time to handle her when she was little, so she is VERY squirrelly and timid. Whenever I come into the room, I call her name softly, and when I attempt to put my hand in the cage to let her sniff me, she either bolts back into her nesting box, or only pokes her head out once or twice. This forces me to remove the box, and all other hiding places to get her to get used to my hand in the cage and my scent. I really want to tame her, but the usual method isn't working well. I've been at it for five days. I know I should be patient, but this never happened with my other gerbils that I've owned I really don't want to return her either. She'll just go to someone who is inexperienced, and either end up on craigslist, or back at petsmart.

GERBIL BIT ME AND DREW BLOOD HELP?
my gerbil bit me... i heard you can introduce two gerbils that arent in the same cage with a close eye. they began fighting and i tore them apart from eachother and my youngest one bit me i accidentally shook my hand in reflex but she didnt go far. i picked her up and put her back in her cage immediatlly. im really scared and i know she didn't mean to bite me.... the bite drew blood and looks like a little cresant. im holding toilet paper up to it but it keeps bleeding and it feels warm...... i wont get sick or get rabies or an infection right???PLEASE HELP IM REALLY SCARED

Gerbil Breeders Near Oklahoma City?
Does anyone know of any gerbil breeders near Oklahoma City that's not a 2 hour drive away?I'm looking for a breeder that's at least in surrounding cities, like Edmond, Yukon, Mustang & Moore or within 100 miles. If you can tell me of one in Oklahoma City, that would be absolutely great I'm looking to adopt 2 gerbils & getting them from a pet store will be my last resort Note I have tried PetFinder. Nothing.
