What are some dog breeds that are small, good with kids, and shed very little?
We're trying to convince my mom to let us get a dog, she's mostly worried about the hair. So What are some good dog breeds that are small, good with kids, and shed very little?
I am wanting to get a small dog.....any suggestions on a breed that is good with little kids?
My children are 1, 3 and 5 and we recently had to put our lab down due to allergies. So I'm use to haveing the extra responsibility of a pet and small children. This time I am wanting a small dog that can be in the house with us, yet enjoys playing fetch and going for walks. Many small breed dog are not so good with little children. Many people have said that " IF THEY GROW UP TOGETHER...." but I don't want to get a puppy and fall in love with it then find out its not a good match for our family. I really love the look of a MinPin, Weinner dog, something with sleek hair and small. If anyone has any experience with small dogs and children please me select a breed right for us.Thanks so much We just had to put down our 13 year old lab due to her having allergies......so I'm use to the extra responsibility of having a pet and 3 children. My children are 1, 3 , 5. They are great with animals. I volenteer at a local shelter and take my 3 year old and my 5 year old with me, so they are aware of how to treat baby animals. Many people think that a small dog isn't right because little kids are mean to small dogs. You need to train your KIDS then train your dog. hahah I'm looking for a breed that is good with young children. I like the look of a MinPin, Weinnerdog, KCcaviliers, ect. Something that doesn't shed would be a plus. I have read many books already and done some research on the comp. but I'm wanting some actual experience info from anyone who has had a good experience with small children and lil dogs.Thanks.

I have a 2 year old, and although I don't plan on getting a dog right now, we may in the future. She would be older but we will have more kids so there's possibility of having smaller toddlers babies in the house. We teach our kids to behave and be gentle around animals but I'd like to know what kind of small dog would be good in a family household?

We've got two kids under three and want to get a dog next summer. We've got a house with an enclosed but smallish backyard. The dog will live inside. We're familiar with Dachshunds and Beagles, but want to consider anything that's not too big and doesn't shed too much.

We live in a little aprtment and we have a 6month old little boy who means the world to us so we dont want any dog that would propose a treat to him. We also dont want a dog that is hard to train because our main focus is on our son and I don't want to have to take any attention away from him, any more than I would have to raising a puppy. Small dog thats good with kids? (please read description)?
My friend keeps asking for a small dog that's good with kids. He says he wants a small, fluffy dog. I repeatedly tell him small dogs are in general not good with kids but he doesnt seem to get it. he's not very bright no offense to him. He is very good with dogs though. However, maybe I am skimming over some small dogs that are good with kids that Im not thinking of. No terriers or hounds, as they have a tendency to take off when off leash. yes, i know all dogs will do this, but with terriers and hounds you have your work cut out for you to train them not to do so. Also, I tried to talk to him about bulldogs but he doesnt seem to grasp the fact that bulldogs are not the same as pitbulls and bulldogs are good with kids, unlike pits, who can be too rowdy. Same with pugs, he doesnt like how they look. And he didnt like schnauzers either. If you can't think of any small dogs, a mid size one would be okay too. They live in an apartment so it has to be small. Any suggestions? THNX Also, no beagles they are way too stubborn and very hard to train..he babysat one for a week and didnt like it. Like i said, hes great with dogs, he'll walk them, feed them , etc, give them basic training, but i dont think he has the brain capacity and patience to train a difficult dog. Im sorry for sounding so limited in the dogs we can take but I put the dogs first and frankly I don't want to recommend a dog that would not be good. Its not good for the dog or him.To goatpug...i totally agree with you. He keeps asking me to find a dog and im getting more and more reluctant. I printed out at least 5 wonderful dogs the other day from petfinder and he didnt like how any of them looked. I just wanted to get him a dog b c i know hes good with them and it saves a doggy life. But hes being way too specific. Pugs are absolutely wonderful. Loraine the reason why i specified no terriers or hounds is because the dog would often be at our house and we do not have a fenced in backyard. I wouldn't want the dog getting hit if it managed to get out of the house. Just a precaution for the DOGS SAKE.
