What purpose do a dogs dew claws serve?
I know people have dew claws removed, and understand why. But why are most dogs born with them in the first place? What purpose did they, and might continue to serve? I think at one point they did serve a purpose, and that at this time, many dogs actually tear them, needing surgery.

I love animals, so I am not going to mace a dog, or shoot a dog i dont even carry a gun Can somebody turn me onto a device or a gadget that has a proven track record of repelling dogs. Do dogs get a cold? Please help?
My dog has been sneezing quite a bit since yesterday, and today she started breathing as if she was trying to blow her nose, like a snore, for 5 secs or so. She's a two year old shihtzu and she just got her shots and some spray that they sprayed in her nose, I don't know if that could have something to do to..she got the Bordetella spray four days ago..Yes, she got the Bordetella spray four days ago.. She snoaring started today but the sneezing been since like three days ago. What type of dog breed is right for me?
My mom is super picky about what type of dogs she likes, so I'm having a hard time finding the right breed for us. The dog will need to be calm and not too energetic or loud. I have to leave it alone in the house for a couple hours because I need to go to school, so I need a dog that is independent and won't suffer from separation anxiety. When I get home, I can give it about 30 minutes of exercise running and jogging mainly , and maybe a walk later in the evening. I don't like small dogs, but I don't want a huge dog either. My mom doesn't want a dog that will shed too much, but a little shedding is fine. What do you think is the right breed for us?

I know why my dog is acting different, now how do i fix it?
I posted a question previously on my 1 yr old pit bull that's been acting differently after i got my 2 month old pit bull. I have been really focusing on what I do and what could probably trigger the change of attitude. My 2 month pit bull does not allow me to give any attention to my older dog. When it sees that I give attention to any other dog besides him he will start barking. My older dog channels this anger and then acts aggressively as well. For example, I took my two dogs to the dog run. They were both playing fine but when one dog jumped up on my lap for me to pet him, my puppy came barking and my older pit bull jumped on the tiny dog. It didn't even bite him tho But still how do i fix this problem????
