We resently found out he was a diabetic, and the vet gave him some new food. He won't eat it. How do i get him to eat it? I'm afriad he is going to starve himself. Please help!

It is highly unlikely that your dog will starve himself to death. You need to set it up so that the dog knows that's all he gets. I have a dog who was initially hard to get to eat. I make all three dogs sit and wait for me to get their food ready, then I put it on the floor. They aren't allowed to eat it until I give them the signal. If they don't eat it, they lose it and no more is offered until the next scheduled feeding time and only the regular amount is offered at that time. My 'dainty eater' no longer skips meals. Another thought, did you change the dog's food abruptly? Was this at the vet's suggestion or would it be okay to gradually mix the new food into the old food? Sometimes an abrupt change will put a dog off of their food. Either way, I would still use the method I talked about above.

Do not change right to the new food. First, give him 3/ 4 old food 1/ 4 new food, then after a few days, 1/ 2 and 1/ 2 then few days later 2/ 4 new food and 1/ 4 old food, then 2/ 3 new food etc. After about a month your dog should be ready to eat only the new food. If this does ot work consult your vet again. Dogs should not have sudden change in their diet and this method should help him adjust.
