HELP! I cut my parakeets toenail!!?
Well i was trimming my parakets nail for the first time and i was doing very well but he squirmed and i cut one too short it was bleeding sort of alot for a bird. I freaked out and put a mixture of cornstartch and flour. then some neosporen and petroleum jelly witha cotton ball then more flour. I feel TERRIBLE cause he keeps lifting his little leg up to his belly which he dosent ever do. The bleeding stopped but what do i do about the recovery what it if starts bleeding againa nd im not there to help him?
Were my parakeets mating?
I had my parakeets out today, and they are a male and a female. The female is about 1 1 2 years old and the male is about 2 1 2 years old. The male got on the females back and he was all fluffed up and excited, while the female stood in place under him. Do you think they were mating? If they were, will the female lay eggs?
Will my parakeet be able to sleep if i keep the radio on for the day?
nobody is home for most of the day and i want to keep the radio on to keep him company. Will the sound stop my parakeet from sleeping? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
Parrot/parakeet suggestions?
I'm looking for a bird that will be a one person bird, because I don't trust my brother with my pet budgie whom he was blowing air on today , and my mom is making me let him play with him. I can supervise him but I just don't feel comfortable with letting my brother play with him. Anyway, I want a bird who will at least sit on my shoulder, but I can't buy an expensive bird. I was thinking about a Ringneck parakeet, but I don't have $100 $300 to spend and my parents aren't going to help me. I've thought about lovebirds but are they really nippy? My budgie nips sometimes, but he never breaks skin maybe once, but I didn't bleed . I wanted a parrotlet, but being $300 that isn't going to happen Does anyone have any suggestions? Will a budgie learn to stay away from certain people because of what they do to them? Thanks I did consider cockatiels, but I heard they have dusty feathers and I think I'm a little allergic to birds, though it isn't bad enough to keep me from them but if cockatiels have notably more dust, I think I should stay away from keeping one. Thanks though

I have one parakeet which i got 2 monthes ago. Im going to be starting school soon and everybody in my family works late and comes home late. The house is empty from early in the morning to around 6 at night. What should i do to help it be less lonely. Should i get a new bird? i kinda dont wanna get a new bird cause i have to get another cage to keep it in and that can get expensive. Thank you for your help.

What gender is my parakeet?
I bought two parakeets and one is definitely a boy, and I bought a white pale blue one with a light pink cere and the owner said it was a girl. But now the white one's cere is changing colors It's light blue with a little white and light purple around the edges and I'm starting to think she's a he? They fight occasionally and the white one is agressiveish. Thanks
Outdoor Training a Budgie or Parakeet?
I Read many people who state that they let their birds out doors, out of a cage, and have them return at night time. This was a little shocking to me and I was wondering how common it is? Also, is it something I could train my budgies to do?
